Job Summary

The main purpose of this position is to coordinate the compilation of publications’ schedules and production processes in the Economic Statistics Department (ESD) of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) through liaison with relevant stakeholders.

Duties And Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

• Coordinate publications’ compilation processes on behalf of ESD in order to meet the needs of its stakeholders.
• Manage the dissemination of publications on behalf of ESD to support the communication and transparency mandates of the SARB.
• Maintain ESD publications’ subscription list to ensure their delivery to relevant (local and international) stakeholders.
• Provide verbal and written answers to queries relating to ESD publications.
• Oversee adherence to the publication style, editorial policy and requirements in the contents of publications from ESD.
• Maintain and update guidelines for the compilation and dissemination of publications as well as other resources on behalf of ESD, and address queries relating to publications’ production and dissemination processes.
• Conduct quality checks in publications’ contents of ESD by verifying facts, dates and statistics using standard reference sources.
• Edit and proofread copies of publications to detect and correct errors in spelling, punctuation and syntax.
• Review and approve proofs prior to the printing of publications.
• Process and prepare invoices for publications’ accounts.
• Maintain and update ESD’s SARBhub pages and selected pages of the SARB website by adhering to the time schedules of the different information sets and embargos of publications.
• Update websites at the request of clients/owners in ESD, and consult users on the authenticity of current information.
• Regularly check if links and pages to statistics are functioning correctly, and ensure the application of quality control before delivery, subscribing to the SARB’s corporate identity guidelines and Style Guide.
• Participate in the Procurement Committee for the selection of a service provider to print the Quarterly Bulletin publications by reviewing documentation and providing inputs.
• Monitor exchange of data with international organisations to meet the requirements of various international standards.
• Compile Economic News Review, Calendars; and Foreign Direct Investment trends to support research in ESD.

Qualifications And Experience

To be considered for this position, candidates must be in possession of:

• the minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Language Practice / Technology or an equivalent combination of education and job-related experience; and
• the minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a publishing environment.
