The Role

We are looking for Programme Assistant will work closely with the Project Officers to work with partners to support the implementation of the programme, ensuring effective and timely delivery of the programme including technical support to partners, monitoring, report writing and effective communication.This role will work closely with the Project Officers to support the day-to-day implementation of the Gender program including the SRP2 project, WE-CARE Women’s Empowerment and Care Programme and Urban Resilience.

Duties And Responsibilities

Key responsibilities:

The overall objective will be to provide support the Project Officer in day to day running of the SRP , WE CARE and urban resilience projects and the cross cutting support to all pillars.

Support the Project Officer to provide technical support to Women’s Rights and Gender Justice partners.
Support delivery of We Care catch up plan and extension.
Assist in SRP and Urban resilience programme delivery.
Support partners and Oxfam in organising commemorations of key events.
Assist Project Officers to ensure project messaging is reflected within all partner external messaging, and communications materials are developed.
Assist the Project Officer to ensure that cross cutting issues relevant to the program are applied across Oxfam programme pillars.
Support the Programme Officer as necessary in compiling reports for both internal and external use.
Ensure compliance with Oxfam guidelines, policies systems and procedures for effective support of the program.
Support commemorations of key international days for Oxfam and partners.
Under the supervision of the project officer and Program manager, the Assistant will support in Influencing and partner capacity building activities.
Support programme documentation.
Be prepared to undertake other duties related to Oxfam’s programme as and when required by the Programme Manager.

Qualifications And Experience

Do you have:

Degree in Gender Studies/ social sciences/Development Studies or other discipline relating to development.

Three to five years’ experience in SRHR/women’s rights/youth programming in an I/NGO setting
Experience of implementing women’s rights and gender justice projects notably in partnership with local NGOs/ or within the staffing of local NGOs

What we are looking for

Our next Programme Assistant will require someone who:

Degree in Gender Studies/ social sciences/Development Studies or other discipline relating to development.

Three to five years’ experience in SRHR/women’s rights/youth programming in an I/NGO setting
Experience of implementing women’s rights and gender justice projects notably in partnership with local NGOs/ or within the staffing of local NGOs
Sound understanding of the barriers, opportunities facing women and young people in rural communities within Zimbabwe
Ability to work with local authorities and rural communities including traditional and political leadership
Ability to communicate ideas in a culturally-sensitive manner and conducive to their practical application especially in regional context with an ability to adapt and work within a multicultural, multilingual and multidisciplinary environment.
Ability to working remotely/from home maintaining focus on work, skilled to plan and arrange meetings for SRP, WE CARE and urban resilience projects and support using Zoom, Microsoft teams and Skype software.
Appreciation of global frameworks such as the Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women, Beijing Platform of Action, Maputo SRHR Plan of Action and how to operationalise these for women and marginalised groups in Zimbabwe
Ability to travel regularly at short notice.
Ability to work within a Covid 19 pandemic response environment and developing appropriate recovery strategies.
Good organizational and communication skills with international and national staff.
Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
Experience and commitment to promote equity, gender and diversity
Ability to represent Oxfam in a professional and competent manner.
